Bombers Back To Winning in 7-6 Defeat of Miners

In front of a great crowd on a beautiful evening, the Dubois County Bombers got out to a four-run lead in the sixth inning and held on for a 7-6 victory over Madisonville Miners on Sunday.

Dubois County took an early lead in the second inning. An error scored one run for Dubois County.

The Bombers took the lead for good with three runs in the fifth inning. In the fifth Alex Alders doubled off of Christopher Mutter, driving in two runs and Mutter induced Jake Slunder to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

The Bombers scored three runs in the sixth inning. The big inning was thanks to a single by Zack Gray and a error. The Miners scored three runs in the failed comeback on a single by Logan Jarvis in the seventh and a single by David Robins in the ninth.

Cole Berry earned the win for Dubois County. He pitched five innings, giving up three runs, four hits, striking out six, and walking one. Three relievers helped Dubois County close out the victory. Brandon Smith threw two innings. Bear Bellomy recorded the last three outs to earn the save for the Bombers. Carson Imes took the loss for Madisonville. He threw four and a third innings, surrendering three runs, three hits, and striking out one.

Both teams had 10 hits in the game.  Slunder, Alders, and Hunter Childress each collected multiple hits for the Bombers. Childress, Alders, and Slunder each managed two hits to lead Dubois County.

David Robins, Logan Jarvis, and Ryan Brooks each collected multiple hits for Madisonville.
