Bombers Roll Over Chiefs 18 – 3

The DC Bombers poured on the runs and  overwhelmed the Chiefs in Paducah to get their 25th win on the season. Trailing 18-0, the Chiefs finally put up 3 runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to prevent a shutout. The Bombers totaled 15 hits, stranded 12 runners and had one error. The Chiefs had 8 hits, left 7 men on base and committed 3 game errors.

The Bombers are off tonight (Friday) and resume play with a doubleheader at home with Madisonville on Saturday.  Saturday’s game will be followed by Fireworks.

Bombers Blast a 16-3 Win Over Fulton

Due to heavy intervention by Mother Nature in recent weeks, the latter part of the OVL season has turned into a battle of attrition for much of the league’s pitching staffs.  Having played seven games in five days, and faced with another double header today, the Fulton Railroaders’ mound corps was working quite short-handed when they rolled into Dubois County last night.

The Bombers relief staff has been similarly overworked following seven games in the prior four days. Little relief was in sight (see what we did there?) with no scheduled days off until Friday.

The key for the evening was going to be who could get to the opponent’s bullpen first. Dubois County answered the bell early and often, scoring three times in the second inning and adding four more in the fourth to KO Fulton starter Hunter Smith. The Bombers went on to score in every inning for the rest of the game, cruising to a 16-3 triumph. [Read more…]
