2021 Bombers Coaching Staff Announced

The Dubois County Bombers organization is looking forward to the 2021 season with an experienced staff of coaches who all played for the Bombers during their collegiate careers. Willie Poe and Bryce Wilz will be back in their Bombers stirrups as Assistant Coaches working with Bombers Head Coach Travis LaMar this summer.

Coach Travis LaMar returns to the Bombers for his third year as Head Coach having joined the coaching staff in 2017.  An Evansville native, LaMar was drafted out of high school but opted for college.  He pitched at Olney Central College and finished at Wright State University.  All of his collegiate summers (2007-2009) were spent with the Dubois County Bombers.  Following graduation he played for the Lake Erie Crushers & the Evansville Otters.  Coach LaMar is a teacher & coach at Caze Elementary in Evansville and assists with the Southridge High School baseball program.

Willie Poe is no stranger to League Stadium and the Bombers. Poe was a member of the 2015 & 2017 teams capturing OVL Championships both seasons.  The Lexington, KY native and Bellarmine University graduate pitched for the Knights from 2014-2019 and was part of their GLVC Championship team. He spent his 2018 summer in the GLSCL with the Southern Ohio Copperheads. Since completing his playing career, he has coached at Iowa Wesleyan University and Indian Hills Community College.  Poe is currently an Assistant Coach at Oakland City University.

Coach Poe reflected on his time as a Bombers player “I met teammates that became some of my closest friends and played with and against extremely talented players.  I enjoyed it so much the first time that I had to come back for a second year”.

Loogootee native, Bryce Wilz comes back 8 years after pitching for the 2013 Bombers team. Wilz pitched for Southeastern Illinois College before transferring to Brescia University where he garnered All Conference honors.  He is currently at SEIC in his third year as their pitching coach.  His summers have included coaching in the Ohio Valley League with the Muhlenberg County Stallions in 2018 and was to be with the Madisonville Miners in 2020.

Coach Wilz is excited to be a part of the Bombers organization once again & is looking forward to a successful season.

“Willie & Bryce will have an immediate impact on the team.  They bring a lot of pitching experience, but their baseball knowledge is also huge,” stated Coach LaMar.  He added “We intend to keep our coaching efforts pretty fluid between the two of them as they are both very capable.”

Managing Partner, Mike Uebelhor, added “We are thrilled to have 3 individuals with significant Bombers experience leading the team.  They understand our goals of player development and our culture of winning while being an asset to our community.”

The Dubois County Bombers open their season on Friday, June 4th at League Stadium in Huntingburg, IN when they host the Owensboro RiverDawgs.
