Bombers Hold On for Another Close One Against Hoppers

Hoptown Hoppers Claws Back, But Falls Just Short Against Dubois County Bombers

Despite a 6-run deficit in the fourth inning, Hoptown Hoppers almost came all the way back, eventually falling 10-9 to Dubois County Bombers on Friday. Hoptown Hoppers scored five runs in the failed comeback. Nick Proto, Cord Johnson, Blake Jackson, Matt Keane, and Proto came through with RBIs to lead the rally.

Hoptown Hoppers was right in it until Dubois County Bombers hit into a fielder’s choice in the tenth inning.

Dubois County Bombers captured the lead in the third inning. Brad Fuhrhop drove in two when he singled.

Hoptown Hoppers knotted the game up at nine in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Proto doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Hoptown Hoppers notched five runs in the fourth inning. Proto, Johnson, and Jackson all drove in runs in the frame.

Dubois County Bombers scored seven runs in the third inning. Jake Lewis, Payton Mattingly, Fuhrhop, and Cooper Trinkle powered the big inning with RBIs.

Ryan Luckett was the winning pitcher for Dubois County Bombers. He allowed one hit and zero runs over two and a third innings, striking out four. Reece Kleinhelter, Tobe Whitten, and Jaxson Blair all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory. Whitten recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Dubois County Bombers.

Jaxon Herchenbach took the loss for Hoptown Hoppers. He went one-third of an inning, allowing one run on one hit and walking zero.

Koby Silvy started the game for Dubois County Bombers. He lasted four innings, allowing eight hits and seven runs while striking out three Sage Holderfield started the game for Hoptown Hoppers. He allowed nine hits and nine runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out three

Hoptown Hoppers tallied two home runs on the day. Proto went yard in the fourth inning. Aidan Elias had a homer in the first inning.

Hoptown Hoppers totaled 11 hits in the game. Cody Hartness, Cole Cummings, and Protoeach collected multiple hits for Hoptown Hoppers. Proto, Cummings, and Hartness each collected two hits to lead Hoptown Hoppers.

Dubois County Bombers racked up 13 hits. Evan Kahre, Trinkle, John McDonald, and Lewiseach had multiple hits for Dubois County Bombers. Kahre went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Dubois County Bombers in hits.
