Bombers Sweep Henderson, Advance to Championship

The Dubois County Bombers brought out the brooms in game 2. Tuesday’s series-clinching 7-3 victory over Henderson gave the Bombers the North Division playoff crown as well as a trip to the OVL Championship!

Henderson opened the scoring in the second with a solo shot to take a 1-0 lead. DC’s bats did not get going until the fifth, when they knocked in 2 runs. In the sixth, the Bombers took a 3-1 lead after Ben Wilcoxson’s RBI double. Tucker Schank followed up Wilcoxson’s double with a 2 RBI single to put the game out of reach.

The Flash loaded the bases in the seventh, but DC’s defense stifled the Flash and only allowed 1 run cross home plate. DC responded with 2 more runs in the bottom of the innings to take a 7-2 lead.

Henderson, trailing by 5 runs in the top of the ninth, plated a run to cut DC’s lead to 7-3. The game ended on a ground ball to shortstop Ben Wilcoxson, who stepped on second to record the final out. Check it out below!

Dubois County won the regular season series and swept the playoff series. During the playoff series, the Bombers outscored the Flash 20-4.

Next up for the Bombers are the Full Count Rhythm in the OVL Championship. Full Count finished the regular season with a league-best 32-12 record. DC went 1-3 in four regular season meetings against the Rhythm.

OVL Championship series schedule:

Game 1 (8/6): Dubois County @ Full Count

Game 2 (8/7): Full Count @ Dubois County

Game 3 (8/8): Dubois County @ Full Count

Interestingly enough, neither DC nor Full Count have lost a game during these playoffs. The first team to win 2 games will be the 2021 OVL Champion, so something has to give. May the best team win.
