Bombers Sweep Owensboro, Advance to Semifinals

The Dubois County Bombers swept the Owensboro RiverDawgs last Saturday night. DC took game 2 by a final count of 4-2 to advance to the next round.

Dubois County scored first in the top of the fourth when the RiverDawgs talked in a run with 2 outs. Tucker Schank’s RBI single gave the Bombers a 2-0 lead in the sixth, then Ben Wilcoxson scored off an error to make it 3-0. Guy Lipscomb capped off the sixth with an RBI single and the Bombers lead 4-0.

Owensboro cut the DC lead in half in the bottom of the 7th, but RHP Tyler Wheeler shut the door on their comeback bid. Wheeler pitched 7 complete innings, allowed 5 hits, gave up 2 runs, and struck out 6 Dawgs.

The Bombers swept the Dawgs and outscored them 17-5 in the series. DC is moving on to the next round.

Next up for the Bombers are the 2021 North Division Champions, the Henderson Flash. Dubois County and Henderson went back and forth in the standings, but ultimately the Flash won the division by a half game.

Henderson and Dubois County played 6 times during the regular season, and the Bombers won 4 of the 6 meetings. Most of the games between DC and Henderson were very close, as these teams are pretty evenly matched.
