Bombers Win Big, Take 1-0 Lead Over Henderson

Game 1 of the semifinals ended in a lopsided road win for the Dubois County Bombers. The Bombers defeated the Flash 13-1 and have a 1-0 lead in the series.

DC scored 2 runs in the second and fifth innings. Henderson plated one in the bottom of the sixth. To this point, the Bombers led 4-1 heading to the eighth. Mason White put the game out of reach with a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth to go up 6-1.

The Bombers offense exploded in the top of the ninth, scoring 7 runs. DC took and 8-1 lead off 2 errors, then Mason Landers’ RBI single made it 9-1. Mason White and Adam Euler hit a single and a double, respectively, scoring 2 more runs. White and Euler would both go on to score off an error, capping off the huge inning with a 13-1 lead.

Brayden Childress had quite a day on the mound. Childress pitched 7 complete innings, allowed 4 hits, gave up 1 run, and struck out 5. The Bombers, for the second consecutive game, have had a starting pitcher go 7 full innings.

The series shifts back to League Stadium on Tuesday for game 2. If Dubois County wins tonight, they will go to the OVL Championship Series. If the Flash win tonight, there will be a game 3 in Henderson on Wednesday.
