Bombers Fall to RiverDawgs in Season Opener

The Dubois County Bombers opened their 2018 campaign a day late and a couple runs short last night, falling to the Owensboro RiverDawgs 6-4. Nevertheless, there were a string of encouraging signs in the contest indicating a great likelihood of yet highly successful season for the Dubois County squad.

For starters, there was the starter – Renton Poole. Poole is now in his 3rd season with the Dubois County club. Among other awards and accomplishments over the past two summers, Poole is a returning OVL All-Star. Head coach Andy Lasher tabbed Poole to take the mound for the season’s lid-lifter. Though Poole didn’t have one of his best outings, he fanned five RiverDawgs in four innings of work, showing flashes of the talent that has allowed him to be one of the most dominant pitchers in the league in recent years. May 31st Game Rescheduled & Friday Away Game Now At Home

Tonight’s (Thursday, May 31st) Home Opener against Muhlenberg County has been postponed due to rain.  It has been rescheduled for Monday, June 4th at 7:00.  Gates open at 6:00.  All tickets for this game will be honored on Monday.  Our Friday game that was to be played at Owensboro has been moved to League Stadium.  It will also begin at 7:00 with the gates opening at 6:00.  Season Tickets will be honored for the Friday game.  All other tickets will be sold as General Admission seating at $5.

Saturday, the Bombers are also at home, taking on the Owensboro RiverDogs.  Gates will open at 5:15 pm for Kids’ Fun & Games with the Bombers & Peaches in the outfield.  Game will begin at 7:00.  All times Eastern.

Bomber fans are familiar with the names of Steve Cishek and Sean Manaea. Their banners hang in League Stadium. Both former Bombers now suit up for major league squads. Manaea is a core member of the Oakland A’s rotation in the midst of a breakout season. Cishek has notched over 120 career saves, pitching for the Marlins, Cardinals, Mariners, and Rays.
