The Bombers Are 2021 OVL Champions!

Following a 3-2 extra-inning road victory in game 1, the Bombers headed back to Huntingburg with a chance to win the Ohio Valley League title in front of the League Stadium faithful. The Bombers did just that, defeating the Full Count Rhythm 6-1 to become the 2021 OVL Champions!

Dubois County applied the pressure early on the Full Count Rhythm, scoring 2 in the first and three in the second. Dubois County led 5-0 after 2 innings, and 6-0 after 4. The team was playing well, and expectations were building.

Full Count made a push in the sixth inning, but starting pitcher Tyler Wheeler held them off. Wheeler pitched a complete game, allowed 9 hits, gave up 1 run, and struck out 4.

Leading 6-1 after 8, the Bombers were 3 outs away. Mason White caught a pop up for the first out, then the next batter hit a single. The very next at would be the last of the game. Tucker Schank caught a line drive to second base for the second out, then threw out the runner at first for the final out.

A baseball championship isn’t a baseball championship without a dog pile at the end.

Last night’s OVL title marks the third title that Dubois County has claimed since 2015. Interestingly enough, the Bombers went undefeated during the 2021 playoffs. The Bombers went 6-0, outscoring their opponents 46-12 during that span.
